Arsenal contact Vazquez

Arsenal have made an offer for Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, according to Diario Gol. The Spain international has become an important option for Zinedine Zidane, but has not locked down a place in the starting XI due to competition from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio and more. Roma, Juventus and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old.

Pots and seedings confirmed for Champions League group stage draw

The 32 teams in this season's Champions League group stage can now begin to think about their dream draw after the final seeding pots were confirmed following Wednesday's final qualifying ties. The champions of Europe's top-eight ranked leagues are automatically seeded in pot 1, with the remaining three pots allocated based upon UEFA's coefficient system. Sevilla secured their place in pot 2 after coming through the playoffs, which meant Napoli had to be content with a place in pot 3 after they too came through the qualifiers. Liverpool take a place in pot 3 after coming through their tie against Hoffenheim.  There are teams in pot 4 that some might hope to avoid, as it features Scottish champions Celtic, Dutch title holders Feyenoord, German debutants RB Leipzig and Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon. The draw for the group stage begins at 5 p.m. BST, midday ET on Thursday, Aug. 24. Seeded:  Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk, Monac

Barca 'sign Angel di Maria' after official Twitter account is hacked

Image
Barcelona ‘s summer transfer window went from bad to worse after their official Twitter account was hacked to claim they had signed Angel di Maria from PSG. The La Liga giants have endured a trying offseason with star man Neymar leaving in a £200m deal for Paris while the chases for replacements, namely Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, have hit dead ends. Matters hit a new low in the early hours of Wednesday morning when a message on the official club Twitter account tweeted: “Welcome Angel Di Maria to FC Barcelona! #DiMariaFCB”. The tweet was retweeted thousands of times before a subsequent message confirmed the hoax. The message would go on to appear and subsequently disappear over the next hour before the club security finally retook control of the account. Saudi Arabian group OurMine have gone on to claim responsibility for the hack. The hack came just hours after it was confirmed the club intended to sue Neymar for £7.8m in damages  for an alleged breach of contract followin

Kolasinac Reveals Which Arsenal Youngster Has Impressed Him Most

Arsenal’s summer signing Sead Kolasinac has revealed the youth player who has impressed him most is Reiss Nelson ( via Arsenal.com ). It’s fair to say that Sead Kolasinac has been a popular signing with Arsenal supporters since his summer move from Schalke. The Bosnian is developing into something of a cult hero among fans and now Kolasinac has revealed which Arsenal players have impressed him most with one youth player, in particular, impressing him most. “You realise from his style of play that he’s really talented,” Kolasinac said of Reiss Nelson. “He’s quick, a very strong dribbler and he has everything you need as an offensive player. “He’s still young and has a lot to learn, also academically.” Nelson featured for the Arsenal first-team during pre-season and has impressed with the Under-23 side so far this season. It’s fair to say that Kolasinac is a fan. Don't Miss: “It’s good for him to have more experienced players around who can take care of him, like Mesut, who plays in

Frank Lampard predicts where Arsenal, Liverpool will finish this season

Image
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard doesn't expect Arsenal and Liverpool to finish in the Premier League's top four Chelsea legend and BT Sport pundit Frank Lampard Frank Lampard is tipping both Arsenal and Liverpool to miss out on a top-four finish this season. Jurgen Klopp’s side secured a return to the Champions League last season thanks to a fourth-place finish on the final day of the 2016-17 season. Liverpool secured a long-awaited a return to Europe’s premier club competition after a 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough at Anfield to secure a top-four spot ahead of Arsenal. The Merseyside outfit have signed three players in the summer transfer window but have missed out on some of their top targets, including Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk. Arsenal signed Alexandre Lacazette in a club-record £52m deal from Lyon to improve their attacking options, while Arsene Wenger added Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac to his squad on a free transfer. The Gunners suffered a 1-0 loss to Stoke City las

Seri denies Barcelona move has been agreed

Image
Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri insists he has not played his last game for the club despite reports of an imminent move to Barcelona. The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a €40million transfer to Camp Nou, although Nice general manager Julien Fournier stated on Monday that no negotiations between the clubs had taken place. Seri has now said that he does not expect any development in the deal before Nice take on Amiens in Ligue 1 on Saturday and is adamant that Tuesday's Champions League play-off defeat to Napoli was not his last performance for the club. "No, it wasn't my last match with Nice. I'll be at Amiens on Saturday," he said. "I don't know too much [about the rumours]. I've told everyone to let me focus on my goal, which today was to focus on the Champions League and then, afterwards, to see if I'll leave or stay. "If it happens with Barcelona, that's good, otherwise I am happy in Nice." Napoli claimed a 2-0 victor

Ryan Giggs tells Chelsea how many new signings Antonio Conte needs

The Manchester United legend believes Chelsea still need to sign two more players in the summer transfer window Ryan Giggs believes Chelsea manager Antonio Conte needs at least two more signings before the close of the summer transfer window. The defending Premier League champions got their season back on track thanks to a 2-1 win against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Sunday evening. Marcos Alonso scored either side of half-time to help Chelsea secure three points after Michy Batshuayi’s own goal to level before the left-back’s late winner. The Blues suffered a 3-2 loss to Burnley in their opening Premier League fixture of the 2017-18 season to make a disastrous start to their title defence. Chelsea have signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata in the summer transfer window so far. However, Blues boss Conte has also seen big-name players such as Nemanja Matic and John Terry, while promising youngsters Nathan Ake and Ruben Loftus-Cheek h

Chelsea have already lined up a replacement if Antonio Conte leaves

Antonio Conte. It’s not been an easy summer for Antonio Conte, despite winning the Premier League title in his first year in charge of Chelsea. He probably didn’t do himself any favours, though, by sending a text message to Diego Costa to trigger the infamous saga – claiming the Spain international was no longer in his plans and it has seen him go AWOL in Brazil, even though his employers want him back in training. TOUGH SUMMER It’s a question he can’t get away from, but he wasn’t in the mood to discuss it in the build-up to the Blues’ second league game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur. Not only that, but it’s obvious that the Stamford Bridge side has endured a tough summer in terms of transfer activity as well. They have made numerous signings in Willy Caballero, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Alvaro Morata, but the only deals fans and pundits can seem to talk about are how Manchester United masterfully stole Romelu Lukaku from under their noses, before strangely allowi

Arsenal Fans Won't Enjoy Arsene Wenger's Latest Transfer Comments

Image
By this point, it genuinely feels as though Arsene Wenger takes some perverse, albeit hilarious, pleasure in driving Arsenal fans to the point of   hysterical social media meltdowns. Especially towards the end of the summer transfer window. In recent years, vast amounts may have been spent on bringing the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and Alexandre Lacazette to the Emirates Stadium, yet the Gunners have consistently failed to follow up on these impressive captures with further movements in the transfer market and have therefore been found wanting when it comes to mounting a serious Premier League title challenge or becoming competitive in Europe. And, following this summer's additions of the aforementioned Lacazette and Bosnian full-back Sead Kolasinac, it seems as if Wenger is set to repeat the trick, despite Arsenal fans crying out for more quality additions to the first team squad, especially with the futures of Sanchez, Ozil and Alex Oxlade

Arsenal, Chelsea boost as Real Madrid make local Llorente decision

Real Madrid  will not consider selling  Marcos Llorente  to  Atletico Madrid . Llorente is pushing to leave Real in the coming days and Atletico have expressed interest. But  AS  says Real will not consider selling the midfielder to their city rivals. Real's stance is a boost for Premier League clubs, where  Arsenal  and  Chelsea  have been in contact about a price for Llorente. Real will not consider doing business with Atletico after having to meet the buyout clause of Theo Hernandez to sign the fullback at the end of last season. For his part, Llorente is keen to leave Real, convinced he won't find a place in their star-studded midfield this season.

Barcelona prepare fourth bid for Coutinho

Image
Barcelona are preparing a fourth bid for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho that could rise to £138m. New reports insist that the La Liga club are not ready to end their chase of the Brazilian playmaker and will indeed increase their offer for him. The Catalan club will test Liverpool’s resolve once more, with an initial payment of £101m up front – with £37m in bonuses. A source in Spain told Sky Sports News: “Philippe has never been more determined to leave Liverpool. “To suggest Barca are thinking of backing out and calling it a day, is absolute nonsense. “They’re all in now; their cards are on the table and they’ll never give up the fight.”

Southampton sign Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt

Image
Wesley Hoedt Southampton signed Netherlands defender Wesley Hoedt from Lazio for a reported £15 million (16.4 million euros, $19 million) on Tuesday. Hoedt agreed a five-year deal with the Premier League club and will arrive at St Mary’s as a potential replacement for his compatriot Virgil van Dijk. Van Dijk is a target for Liverpool and Chelsea, but Saints insists he will not be sold, even though the central defender has still not joined first-team training under new manager Mauricio Pellegrino. Hoedt began his career at AZ Alkmaar in his home country before moving to Lazio in 2015. The 23-year-old, who made his senior international debut earlier this year, can’t wait to get started in the Premier League. “I’m really happy to be here. I think Southampton is a really big club, so it’s a good next step for me to come here and to play in the Premier League and try to help the best I can,” Hoedt told Saints’ website. Hoedt is Southampton’s third signing since last season after the arrival

Arsenal Name Their Price For Alexis Sanchez And It Is Massive

Image
Arsenal have named the price it will cost other clubs to sign Alexis Sanchez and it is a massive £70 million. There may be just a week left of the transfer window but it doesn’t look like the ins and outs are finished at the Emirates Stadium. One man whose name has long been linked with a move away is Alexis Sanchez as he enters the final year of his contract. The 28-year-old is reportedly fit to take part in Sunday’s match with Liverpool but that may not be the case if another club makes a move for him. Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United and PSG are just some of the clubs linked with a move for Sanchez this summer but it seems that they’re going to have to pay big if they want to land him. Arsenal have reportedly slapped a £70 million fee on Sanchez who could, of course, leave for free next summer if a new deal with the Gunners isn’t signed. £70 million is a lot of money for a player with one year left on his contract, even one as good as Alexis Sanchez. The club is rig

Barcelona should chase this Danish star if countinho's bid fails

Image
Barcelona have sounded out Tottenham star after failed Coutinho bids Messi and Suarez. Barcelona are considering a move for one of Tottenham's star men, according to the Independent's Sports Editor Ed Malyon. The Catalan giants have reportedly given up on Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, after the Reds refused to budge on their firm stance. Coutinho, 25, handed in a transfer request by e-mail but will now look to repair his relationship at the club who refused to sell him. Barcelona, linked heavily to Jean Michael Seri and Ousmane Dembele, are desperately trying to spend the €222m Neymar's sale to PSG brought in. The French club triggered his release clause and Barca could do nothing to convince the skilful Brazilian to stay at the Camp Nou. Barcelona recently splashed out €40m on Paulinho, following the similarly not-so-inspiring earlier summer signings of Gerard Deulofeu and Nelson Semedo. They're still hopeful of bringing in a marquee signing before the transf

Valencia signs French midfielder

Valencia Sign Inter Milan’s Geoffrey Kondogbia On Loan . Marcelino’s rebuilding job at Valencia is gathering pace, with the club announcing the loan signing of French holding midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia from Inter Milan. The 24-year-old returns to La Liga four years after leaving Sevilla for Monaco, later joining Inter in 2015, and follows the signing of centre backs Jeison Murillo and Gabriel Paulista. Local media reports suggest that Valencia’s Joao Cancelo will go on loan to the Serie A club as part of the deal. According to reports in the Spanish media, Valencia will need to pay 25 million euros to buy Kondogbia at the end of his one-year loan period. Kondogbia featured 24 times for Inter last season, scoring once and creating two assists as they finished seventh in Serie A. Defensive midfielder Kondogbia will be hoping to slot straight into Valencia’s starting XI, alongside former Arsenal defender Gabriel, when they face reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid on Sunday night at

The new machester united signing has been leaked

Image
Manchester United’s official kit supplier appears to have jumped the gun over the announcement of a new signing. It looks like recently released United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on his way back. Adidas’ US store has started selling United 2017/18 home kits with Ibrahimovic on the back, which suggests the Swedish star’s return to Old Trafford is about to be confirmed. Ibrahimovic had a successful season with United last term, but was released at the end of his one-year deal having suffered a serious knee injury and undergone surgery. He recently returned to Carrington to follow his rehabilitation programme, which had always been planned. But it now looks like a more formal return is in the offing. Ibrahimovic wore number 9 last season, but that squad number has since been given to new signing Romelu Lukaku. The leaked images show the number 10 – recently vacated by former skipper Wayne Rooney – on the Ibrahimovic replica jerseys.

Lionel Messi's Barcelona clause could be activated - City's Pep Guardiola

Image
Pep Guardiola says a club could activate Barcelona star Lionel Messi's €300 million buyout clause -- but sources have told ESPN FC that it will not be Manchester City. Barcelona announced in July that an  agreement was in place for Messi to sign a new four-year deal , but he has still not put pen to paper, and former  Blaugrana  presidential candidate Agusti Benedito has told ESPN FC he would be surprised if he did so anytime soon. However,  Barca maintain that Messi will sign the extension  despite the doubts expressed by ex-club president Joan Laporta and now Benedito, but Neymar's world-record €222m transfer to Paris Saint-Germain has made the possibility of a club paying his buyout clause appear more realistic. Asked about the prospect of a club triggering the clause after Monday night's  1-1 draw  with Everton, City boss Guardiola told a news conference: "I don't know -- someone might if they have the money and want to spend it. "It might happen, who know

Arsenal to hold talk with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Image
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Arsenal are reportedly set to hold crunch talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this week to resolve his future. Oxlade-Chamberlain is out of contract at the end of this season and Arsenal are reluctant to let him leave on a free transfer. Reports emerged suggesting the Gunners are hoping to tie the 24-year-old down to a new deal. It was suggested the north London outfit are hoping to offer a four-year deal to ward off interest from Chelsea. Antonio Conte hasn’t been entirely satisfied with the Blues’ transfer dealings this summer, despite bringing in Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Ruidger, Willy Caballero and Alvaro Morata. And according to the Daily Mail, talks between the Gunners and Oxlade-Chamberlain are scheduled to take place later this week.

Arsenal set to axe third player in two days, 22-year-old on his way out

Image
Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks with Hull City over sending midfielder Jon Toral to the Tigers before the transfer deadline. The 22-year-old is a product of the Arsenal youth academy, but has struggled to make the step up and establish himself in the senior squad. Having spent the last three seasons out on loan, including spells in the Championship, La Liga and with Rangers, it looks as though he’s set to finally land a permanent move elsewhere. According to  Sky Sports , Toral is close to completing a move to Hull, with Leonid Slutsky pushing to get them out of the Championship this season and back into the top flight. Should the deal go through as expected, the midfield ace will become the third player to leave Arsenal in the last two days after Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall sealed exits to join Birmingham City on loan for the rest of the season, as noted by  Sky Sports . It’s not quite the clear out that many expected with more established and senior players linked wit

Chelsea fans love what N'Golo Kante did to Harry Kane at Wembley

Ngolo kante. Chelsea needed to respond after losing their Premier League opener against Burnley last weekend and they did just that against Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday. Antonio Conte’s side issued a statement of real intent against their London rivals, securing an impressive 2-1 victory thanks to a Marcos Alonso brace. The Spanish full-back opened the scoring midway through the first half and then struck the winner in the 88th minute, bailing out his teammate Michy Batshuayi who’d turned the ball into his own net minutes earlier. “I want to thank every one of my players,” Conte was quoted as saying by the  Guardian  after the match. “They showed me great desire, great spirit, great will, great heart, great will to fight. I saw fighters in a moment that’s not easy for us with the suspensions and the injuries. We suffered during the game, but we were always dangerous in every moment. “We know very well that a lot of teams improved if you compare with last season. But we have to concen

Steven Gerrard sends clear message to Arsene Wenger after Arsenal loss

Steven Gerrard explains what he thinks is wrong at Arsenal after Saturday's 1-0 loss to Stoke City Steven Gerrard has told Arsene Wenger that Arsenal are too “weak” to win the Premier League title this season. The Gunners suffered an early blow to their title hopes on Saturday when they were beaten 1-0 by Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium. Stoke’s summer signing Jese ended up scoring the only goal of the game shortly after half-time as Arsenal dominated possession but failed to find the back of the net. Gerrard feels that the Gunners showed a lack of steel against the Potters as they slumped to a disappointing defeat in just their second game of the season. Speaking on  BT Sport  after the game, Gerrard bluntly said: “It’s just weak defending. “To be a top team and to compete for this Premier League, you have to be really good in possession, and Arsenal are – they’re a fantastic team. “But to be a top, top side, you have to compete out of possession. You have to be horrible to play

Breaking news: Barcelona end Coutinho interest

Barcelona have reportedly ended their interest in Philippe Coutinho after a deadline for Liverpool to accept their latest offer expired. The Spanish giants had given Liverpool until 7pm on Sunday evening to accept the new bid for the Brazilian, according to Sky Sports. However, it seems Liverpool have not even responded as they look to keep Coutinho at Anfield. And it spells the end of Barcelona’s failed pursuit of the playmaker, with the Spaniards offering £113million on Friday. Coutinho is sure to be fuming that his move to the Nou Camp has not gone ahead, with the star desperate to leave Liverpool and become Neymar’s direct replacement. Sky Sports Spanish football expert Guilleme Balague said: “We reported on Friday that Liverpool had rejected the third offer from Barcelona and an email was sent back [to Liverpool] from Barcelona saying, ‘okay, you rejected that – if you don’t accept it I must tell you that there is a deadline of today, Sunday – 7pm. Otherwise we withdraw the offer’

Arsene Wenger warns Arsenal fans over Alexis Sanchez Debut

Image
Arsene Wenger has warned the Arsenal fans not to expect too much from Alexis Sanchez when he makes his first team return next week as expected. Two games in and it seems there is crisis at Arsenal, following their 1-0 defeat at Stoke. The Gunners suffered their first defeat of the season in their second game at the Bet365 Stadium, prompting for renewed calls for manager Arsene Wenger to step down, despite only signing a two-year contract earlier in the summer. The game also saw Mesut Ozil come for serious criticism for his below-par display, while Alexis Sanchez didn’t play. And both players have uncertain futures at the club, as their contracts run out at the end of the season. The loss to Stoke has now made keeping Sanchez all the more important, despite running the risk of losing him for free next summer, even though the Chilean would prefer to move now. Sanchez scored 24 league goals last season but is yet to play in this campaign after suffering a muscle strain, which sources insi

Arsenal Offer Oxlade-Chamberlain New Four-Year Deal

Arsenal have reportedly offered Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a new four-year deal, worth £125,000-per-week, with the club keen to keep hold of the Englishman. According to the  Daily Star , the Gunners are confident the Ox will sign the new and improved contract offer, as he is now in the final year of his current deal. Oxlade-Chamberlain has reportedly attracted interest from Chelsea, with  Antonio Conte ready to offer him a place in the starting line-up at right wing-back . However,  Wenger has repeatedly insisted his desire to keep hold of the versatile 24-year-old , and sees him as a key part of Arsenal’s future. The report claims the Ox has been tempted by the interest from Chelsea, although the expectation is that he will sign on, after featuring regularly in Wenger’s new formation. However, the Daily Star are less confident about the futures of Alexis Sanchez and defender Shkodran Mustafi. Riyad Mahrez: Why Arsenal need the Leicester dazzler more than Lemar, Draxler

COMMENT: Don't do it Gooners. Don't cry 'same old, same old'. Not this season. At least, not until this transfer window slams shut. Those away fans at the Brit have every right to feel aggrieved. Frustrated. Absolutely they do. Even the most ardent of Arsene Wenger supporters had to be baffled by his team selection at  Stoke City .  Hector Bellerin  at left wing-back.  Per Mertesacker , Mo Elneny and  Francis Coquelin  all on the bench? It was Stoke. Bloody Stoke. The toughest away game in the league - and Wenger leaves all that muscle in the dugout? What's he doin'? But don't analyse the result. Look at the game. This isn't letting the manager off the hook, but he's right when he says they had enough chances to put this result away. Alexandre Lacazette  should've had his second goal in a week. That was never offside. But what a finish! The Frenchman looks Premier League ready. When was the last time Wenger had such a natural goalscorer to call o
